Redefining Connection Between Human and Horse
At Rahal Ranch, liberty training is a powerful, soulful experience that removes all physical restraints—no ropes, no halters, no pressure.
Instead, it invites a partnership based on mutual trust, respect, and presence. You work with the horse in an open space, using only body language, energy, and intent to communicate.
This practice is not just about training horses—it's about discovering yourself.
Liberty training encourages you to slow down, listen, and develop a true partnership with the horse—one where the horse chooses to follow you, not out of submission, but out of genuine connection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need prior experience with horses to join liberty training?
No prior experience is necessary. Our sessions are designed to be welcoming and educational for both beginners and experienced horse enthusiasts. We guide you through every step of the process in a safe and supportive environment.
Is liberty training physically demanding?
Liberty training is mostly mentally demanding, since both the horse and handler are asked to constantly be focussed and in the right headspace to provide clear communication. Depending on the exercise you are doing, it can also be physically demanding.
What should I wear or bring for a liberty training session?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for light outdoor activity, closed-toe shoes or boots, and bringing a water bottle, sunscreen, and an open mind. All horse-related equipment will be provided.
